Government Affairs Underwriters
The Government Affairs Committee is charged with overseeing and coordinating the government affairs activities and programs of the GFWBA to execute the objectives of the Association. The Government Affairs Committee meets monthly to discuss issues from our 7- county jurisdiction. This committee continually works to foster good working relationships with all elected officials. The Government Affairs Committee also plans and executes our annual Municipal Awards Night.

What is the PAC?
The PAC is an important element of GFWBA’s government affairs program, and is the political voice for the greater Fort Worth home building industry. The purpose of the Hammer & Nails PAC is to contribute money to local and state candidates who understand and support the efforts of the building industry, and organize effective political action on behalf of our members.
You can have a voice in electing candidates that support the building industry. For a minimum $100 membership contribution per year, you can be a part of the Hammer & Nails PAC.

Design Concepts for Livable Homes and Aging in Place (CAPS II)
Design/Build Concepts for Aging in Place prepares you to take on the AIP market
intentionally, by calibrating your business to address the unique challenges of
providing successful solutions. The goal of this course is to enable participants to
identify common challenges within the home and understand attractive design
concepts that create a safe and comfortable environment for clients who want to
age in place as well as identify with one or more of these groups:
home modifications or equipment
The course presents various methods and techniques for modifying home design, from the perspective of new construction and retrofitting.
The Young Professionals (YP) Committee offers an environment for educational, philanthropic, networking and career growth opportunities for Young Professionals (under 45) affiliated with the development, remodeling and homebuilding industries. The YP group meets monthly, and events contain an educational component often in the form of presentations by the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association members or industry leaders or networking events.
The Executive Committee is made up of the elected officers of the GFWBA including the President, Immediate Past President, 5 Vice Presidents and the Secretary/Treasurer.

Details and Solutions for Livable Homes and Aging in Place (CAPS III)
This course builds on the CAPS I & II courses (which are prerequisites for this course) by introducing design solution techniques, innovative products and best practices for product installation for CAPS professionals to utilize when creating livable homes in which to Age-In-Place. Participants will engage in hands-on activities from real case studies to apply material learned in all CAPS courses.
All GFWBA Members are welcome to attend the monthly Board Meetings. Only GFWBA Board Members will sign in and vote on any issues.
Universal Design Essentials
Universal Design Essentials presents a shift in the approach to residential design and construction. Comfort and convenience regardless of age, stature or ability is the hallmark of inclusive design. Designers, suppliers, builders, remodelers, and health care professionals will benefit from the creative design concepts and practices presented to develop market-driven projects that are highly functional, yet integrated and aesthetically appealing. Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS)
courses are not a pre-requisite and CAPS graduates will find benefit by expanding into the broader spectrum of universal design that offers a much wider target audience.

Principal, Mollie Carmichael, will combine research from two of the leading product manufacturers along with our national research to share thought-provoking ideas to consider based on insights from today's new home shoppers.
All members are invited to join the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee is involved in membership recruitment and retention.
Business After Hours is a free networking event for GFWBA members. Non-Members may attend up to two Business After Hour events before joining the association.
Business After Hours hosts must be members of the association and may host only one BAH event per year. The hosting opportunities are booked on a first come first served basis. The host provides food and beverages for the guests. The GFWBA staff will distribute beverage tickets to each guest according to our association policy.

Associates Council fosters the relationship between Associate Members & Builders Members, improves the visibility of associate members and increases recognition of their products and services among builders.
The Committee meets every other month to discuss Associate Council business and plan association events and philanthropic projects. All Associate and Affiliate Members of the GFWBA are welcome to attend and join the council.
The GFWBA Women's Councils is part of NAHB's Professional Women in Building Council (PWB). The PWB is the voice of women in the building industry - dedicated to promoting industry professionalism and supporting members at the local, state and national levels.
GFWBA Builder, Associate and Affiliate Members are welcome to join the Women's Council. Dues are $50 per year. The committee will meet every other month to discuss committee business, professional development, plan committee events and philanthropic projects.

The GFWBA Clay Shoot Challenge is a VERY popular member event. It has sold out each of the last few years. We use the Lewis Class System when scoring, so shooters at ALL levels have a chance to win prizes - and we have some great gun prizes every year! We also have great raffle items.
