    POSITION OVERVIEW:   The Business Development Staffer is primarily responsible for expanding the GFWBA membership by promoting the GFWBA to prospective new members in the community, identifying new member prospects, and retaining existing memberships.


    • Public Relations - Promote the GFWBA recognition and appeal to the        community of prospective members
    • Recruitment – Identify, contact, and recruit new members in conjunction with existing GFWBA members
    • Retention – Reach out to existing members to ensure continued membership


    • Identify, develop, and maintain focused target list of new member prospects
    • Quickly and easily understand prospects needs/interests to determine how to best acquire their membership
    • Effectively communicate GFWBA value to prospective members (how it can positively impact their business)
    • Leverage and transition the initial contact steps of Find, Know, and Influence to an appropriate GFWBA member if necessary to “close the membership”
    • Build membership relationships through follow-up with both existing and potential new members (phone calls, thank you notes, invitations, etc)
    • Identify reasons and solutions for membership drops
    • Conduct new member orientations monthly
    • Actively represent GFWBA at events (GFWBA sponsored, neighboring county BA, & related industry events)
    • Develop and maintain competency in understanding the GFWBA value to members and the community
    • Coordinate with TAB and NAHB membership initiatives
    • Coordinate annual membership drives
    • Exercise a passionate, relentless prospecting mindset
    • Coordinate social media resources and other promotional opportunities for GFWBA in coordination with EVP
    • Key contributor to GFWBA initiatives such as “Find a Builder/Industry Professional” Initiative in 2022
    • Coordinate and assemble monthly GFWBA Newsletter
    • Working variable, non-traditional hours as required to attend events and meet member prospects at their convenience.
    • Identify new sources of recruiting members
    • Expansion of legitimate value of GFWBA based on knowledge gained during recruitment
    • Event preparation, setup and teardown as needed
    • Other tasks as directed by Exec VP
    • Uphold all GFWBA policies


    • Weekly calls and appointments with 5-8 prospects
    • Weekly calls to membership nearing renewal dates
    • Daily management of prospect list
    • Daily/Weekly social media posts and monthly other publication methods
    • Weekly attendance at all scheduled GFWBA events
    • Monthly “Net” membership total metrics (new members, drops, nearing expiration date)
    • Weekly/Monthly reporting of membership status


    • Net membership numbers
    • Number of Website “pings”


    • Energized by meeting and engaging new people, skilled networker
    • Ability to apply current technologies to optimize social media reach
    • Ability to communicate fluently in both written and verbal formats and respond to questions.
    • Provide superb membership (customer) service and generate referrals from one membership prospect to another
    • Creates a sense of trust and reliability with customers

    • Adaptable to changing processes and priorities
    • Proficient in Microsoft office and smart devices plus ability to learn internal software programs and applications
    • Flexible about hours, responsive to membership needs, willing to be available
    • Must present a clean and neat personal appearance and serve as a role model for members, and visitors
    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • The Business Development staff person will report directly to the Exec VP for GFWBA. 
    • 30 hours per week
    • Partial workdays in office during standard hours
    • Flexible to work some after hours and occasional weekend events


    • Base Salary - $40,000 per year
    • Bonus Structure – $100 per net membership based on the net increase in membership over previous quarter.  Paid quarterly.  (Note:  membership totals does not include student chapter members)
