The North Central Texas Council of Governments will host a webinar titled, "Texas Water Development Board's (TWDB) New Flood Science, Planning, and Financial Assistance Programs" on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. The presentation will be given by Kathleen Ligon, Special Assistant to TWDB’s Executive Administrator. She will provide a general overview of implementation of legislation passed by the 86th Texas Legislature, including the Flood Infrastructure Fund, regional flood planning program, and expanded flood science and mapping efforts. After the 86th Texas Legislative Session, Kathleen was appointed Special Assistant to TWDB’s Executive Administrator to serve as the agency’s lead in implementing flood planning and funding legislation, including a $1.5 billion appropriation. Prior to this role, she served several years as a senior policy analyst, and several years as a planner and special assistant in the agency’s planning office where she was project manager for the 2012 State Water Plan. Kathleen has worked in the Texas water industry for more than twenty years, including fifteen years of public service for the State of Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. Note to Certified Floodplain Managers (CFMs) - One credit hour of continuing education credits through the Texas Floodplain Management Association will be offered to CFMs who attend this webinar.
